The City of North Battleford’s official community plan, adopted and passed at City Hall, has now passed its next hurdle.
The community plan has received conditional approval from the provincial government. The City received the decision from Community Planning June 30 and it was presented to council Monday.
The approval is subject to three amendments that have to be made within six months. They include clarifying the legal application of the OCP and future land use map, strengthening policies to support land use co-ordination and development in the urban fringe and clarifying municipal ground water sources.
According to a memo from Crosby, Hanna and Associates dated July 13, the first and the third conditions are easily satisfied with wording changes and some additional information. As for the second one on the urban fringe, it could be satisfied with a meeting with the surrounding RM of North Battleford to “discuss providing greater clarity for land use decision within the urban/rural fringe.”
A resolution has passed Monday for the City to schedule a meeting with the RM and with Crosby, Hanna and Associates to discuss required amendments to the OCP.
