Living Sky School Division dancer-in-residence Ashley Johnson has plans to host a traditional Old Tyme dance April 13 at the Chapel Gallery.

The event will run that evening from 8 to 11 p.m.

Johnson has been doing family dances in the community for the last two years and says this is something she does to bring together people of all ages and different generations using and teaching traditional dances.

She has been going to old time dances in the community and is currently researching and learning these forms as an act of cultural preservation.

Among the steps planned are such oldies as heel toe Polka, the Virginia Reel and the barn dance. Music is by the Yellowhead Ramblers.

The event is free of charge and food will be provided around 10 p.m.
