Onion Lake man charged with murder of Braden Bull appears in court

An Onion Lake man facing second-degree murder charges had another court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court. Vega Bear, 24, was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28 but the matter was adjourned to Oct. 5 to speak to the matter.

An Onion Lake man facing second-degree murder charges had another court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court.

Vega Bear, 24, was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28 but the matter was adjourned to Oct. 5 to speak to the matter.

Bear, who is charged in connection to the death of Braden Richard Bull of Little Pine First Nation, remains in custody since his arrest earlier this month.

The RCMP arrested Bear after an eight-month investigation that involved Saskatoon and Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section, North Battleford RCMP, Onion Lake RCMP, and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit – North. The North Battleford RCMP Forensics Identification Section and the Saskatchewan RCMP Polygraph Unit also helped with the investigation.

According to Onion Lake RCMP, they got a call shortly after 7 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2020, that there was a deceased person along Hwy 797 in the Onion Lake Cree Nation. The victim was identified as Bull
