Onion Lake man facing drug trafficking charges seeks bail

Philip Heathen was arrested Nov. 29 during a traffic stop of an ATV

LLOYDMINSTER – An Onion Lake man charged with trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine has a bail hearing Monday in Lloydminster Circuit Court.

Thirty-eight-year-old Philip Heathen had an appearance scheduled Nov. 30 and the matter was adjourned to Dec. 6 for a show cause hearing.

Heathen was arrested Nov. 29 by Onion Lake RCMP after they conducted a traffic stop of an ATV that was reported stolen.

RCMP seized about 25 grams of cocaine divided into 25 packages, 180 grams of methamphetamine, 68 tablets of codeine, three cell phones, and a large sum of Canadian currency. Police didn’t provide the amount of the money.

Heathen was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, resisting a peace officer, obstruction, personate with intent to avoid arrest, assault of a peace officer, driving while prohibited, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The charges against Heathen haven’t been proven in court.
