Outdoor pools and splash parks are allowed to re-open on Monday under part one of Phase 4 of Re-Open Saskatchewan, but not all of them are.
In Battleford, the Tot Lot will remain closed for the rest of the summer. The town made the announcement in a news release on Friday, June 19.
The town cited the restrictions around re-opening the facility as the stumbling block to opening it.
In their news release they noted there would have been only a small number of people entering the Tot Lot at any one time, and that families would have been required to book appointments in advance. It was also noted scheduling would have been difficult to implement given the configuration of the facility.
Also cited were increased operating costs due to the need for new staff and procedures that would have been required to ensure a safe facility, as well as a significant reduction in grant revenue.
“For these reasons the Town has decided to keep the facility closed for the remainder of the summer,” the Town stated. “This is not a decision that was made lightly. It was difficult and to those who disagree we understand and ask for your patience as we ensure a safe community.”
