Christmas is a time to gather with friends and family.
The Filipino Association in Humboldt and District (FAHD) held their induction of officers and annual Christmas party on December 22 at St. Augustine School Gym.
It was a great event for about 100 Filipinos in the area, who gathered together for Christmas celebrations.
"The event was attended by more than 100 Filipinos, Filipino-Canadians and some special guests," said Edmund Ruiz, Vice Chair of FAHD. "Mayor Malcolm Eaton welcomed the new immigrants and delivered a speech on the importance of immigration on the domestic labour market and positive effects of immigration on productivity."
The celebrations also included an assortment of goodies, Christmas carols, games, raffles and gifts.
"An array of Filipino food fulfilled the gastronomical dreams of Asian food lovers as Christmas carols sway everyone back to the atmosphere of the holiday season," said Ruiz.
At the end of the night, those gathered had a surprise visitor.
"A surprise visit from Santa (played by Father Gregory Roth) mesmerized not only the kids but also all the people who attended the party," said Ruiz.
It was a great celebration for the Filipino community in the Humboldt area, giving them a chance to connect with other new immigrants in the area for a festive season.
