Today at about 10 a.m. RCMP from Maidstone and Lloydminster Rural detachments were dispatched to the North Saskatchewan River as a report of an overturned Zodiac boat was viewed floating downstream on the river.

RCMP say details are sketchy, but witness noticed the overturned Zodiac near the Deer Creek Bridge, called police and took pictures.

Police from Lloydminster were dispatched to Deer Creek Bridge near Paradise Hill, while Maidstone members went to the Toby Nollett Bridge on Highway 21 north of Maidstone.

Police say they have not been able to locate the boat, the origin of which is unknown. They also don't know if there were any passengers on board.

Checks with authorities in both Saskatchewan and Alberta have not turned up any reports of missing fishermen.

The distance between where the boat was spotted at the Deer Creek Bridge and the Toby Nollett Bridge is approximately 20 kilometres of windy river.

Lloydminster Rescue continue to search the river for the boat, but as of 1:20 p.m. it had not been located.

The waters on the North Saskatchewan River are moving swiftly and the watercourse is full of debris. The water is rising at a fast pace.

The RCMP are reminding people to not venture out on the river at this time, as it is just too dangerous. The banks are also unsafe.
