THE BATTLEFORDS – The Town of Battleford is back to hosting its parade, as the event returns following a hiatus due to the pandemic.

The Aug. 12 event will mark the 37th edition of the parade.

With multiple references from the town website to dedication for creating a sense of community among the Battleford residents, the putting on of this event will assist in continuing to offer memories for those who inhabit the area.

The theme for the parade is better together, which is symbolic of the efforts of all those involved in the last two years in terms of getting the event running again, but also each member of the community that contributed towards this event being able to be put on.

Even with a two-year break, parks and recreation department employee Rachael MacDonald says that the response has been extremely positive from both businesses and members of the community.

Those who are entered in the parade itself have an opportunity to receive a ribbon as a entry winner. The five categories are non-commercial, commercial, youth, auto classic and antique, and horse/buggy.

Parade entries will be allowed to hand out candy or treats this year.

The parks and recreation group will be putting up no parking signs along the parade route. Spectators are allowed to watch from anywhere along the route.
