Due to extreme fire hazards, the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport has issued a restriction on all open fires at Candle Lake Provincial Park, Heritage Lake Recreation Site and Waskateena Recreation Site.
Self-contained portable gas heating devices and fire pits, barbecues, pressurized stoves and charcoal briquettes will be permitted for cooking and heating purposes at park discretion for the duration of the ban.
These restrictions are in addition to the fire ban that is currently in place for Athabasca Sand Dunes, Clearwater River, Lac La Ronge, Makwa Lake and Meadow Lake Provincial Parks and Bronson Forest and Chitek Lake Recreation Sites.
For a complete list of all provincial parks and recreation sites affected by fire restrictions, visit www.saskparks.net. These restrictions will remain in effect until public notification by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.
Travellers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to support fire suppression efforts by respecting any road closures, carrying a fire extinguisher in vehicles and avoiding unnecessary idling. Report any fires observed in these parks by calling Park Watch toll free at 1-800-667-1788. If a fire appears to be out of control, call 911.
