With a federal election call only days away, the main political parties have been releasing their official campaign slogans.
In a news release Monday the Conservatives said they unveiled new TV ads with their slogan “It’s time for you to get ahead.”
According to the party, the slogan “captures the positive vision Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has articulated over the last two years: A government that lives within its means and puts more money in your pockets so you can get ahead.”
Conservative leader Andrew Scheer took the opportunity to point out that it was insiders who were getting ahead under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“We’ve seen who gets ahead under Trudeau. It’s billion dollar companies with high-priced lobbyists like Loblaws who get generous handouts from hard-working taxpayers. It’s long-time corporate donors to the Liberal Party like SNC-Lavalin, who Trudeau broke the law trying to protect from criminal prosecution,” Scheer said in a statement.
“Justin Trudeau has spent the last four years helping his political insiders get ahead. I think it’s time for you to get ahead.”
For their part the Liberals have unveiled their slogan as well: “Choose Forward.” The slogan was released in a video posted on the Liberal party website.
“We’ve got a choice to make: keep moving forward and build on the progress we’ve made, or go back to the politics of the Harper years,” the Liberal website stated. “This October, choose forward.”
For their part the Green Party of Canada under Elizabeth May has posted a “call to action” on their website that seems oddly similar to the Liberal slogan. It states “Not left. Not right. Forward Together.”
The New Democrats under leader Jagmeet Singh have also come up with policy using the title “A New Deal for People.“ Like the Conservatives, the NDP seem to be hitting at affordability as a concern in the campaign ahead.
“From our downtowns and suburbs to small towns and rural communities, people are worried about what the future holds – and how their children will make a life for themselves,” the NDP website states.
“What we need now is the courage to act together. And that is exactly what New Democrats offer to Canadians. Our New Deal for People is our view of where our country can go over the next decade and our commitment to the real results that we will work to deliver for Canadians.”
