Partnership with NWRC strengthened

North West Regional College and Mistawasis First Nation have announced plans to enter into an agreement that will strengthen their partnership for the benefit of the First Nation community, according to a NWRC press release.

North West Regional College and Mistawasis First Nation have announced plans to enter into an agreement that will strengthen their partnership for the benefit of the First Nation community, according to a NWRC press release.


According to the release, the vision of Mistawasis First Nation's Iron Buffalo Centre is to empower a prosperous community.


"This memorandum of understanding solidifies our continued partnership with North West Regional College in honour of our past collaboration, present endeavours and future successes," states Shantelle Watson, director of Education, Training and Employment responsible for Iron Buffalo Centre.


Mistawasis community programs and services have been provided at Iron Buffalo Centre since 2011.


The press release describes North West Regional College as an institution that has worked to promote life-long learning as a means of enhancing the cultural, economic and social life of the individuals and communities it serves.


"Essentially, the college and Mistawasis have been working collaboratively for over a decade and this will be a symbol of our continued commitment to one another in preparing the community to successfully participate in today's labour market, " said Melanie Roberts, director of programs, North West Regional College.


According to the organizations, the agreement formalizes collaborative planning, program identification and delivery as well as joint investment in student success and a commitment to forging strong ties with industry partners to create unique learning opportunities for the community.
