A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on Friday morning on Highway 16 between Waseca and Maidstone.
According to the RCMP, it appears a woman left a vehicle she was driving and was walking on the highway when she was struck and killed.
The accident was in the westbound lane approximately two kilometres east of Waseca around 2:25 a.m.
A collision analyst is at the collision site examining the scene. More details are expected toBE provided later on today. The highway was closed and a detour was set up for a few hours in order for the investigation to be conducted, but the road was reopened by 6:30 a.m.
