Local music fans are in for a rare treat, as country roots band Petunia and the Vipers will be rolling into the area.
The band will be playing at the Livelong Hall on Oct.1. Tickets are available for $20 at the Livelong post office, as well as at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m. Children under 14 are free. The event is licensed, and organizers ask people to bring a snack for the potluck.
Petunia's tunes don't fit neatly into one category. In a recent interview, Petunia described his music as "Tom Waits meets Elvis at Woody Guthrie's hobo junction."
Petunia is backed by a band of seasoned professionals who seem to draw people out of their seats and on to the dance floor with their high energy arrangements of traditional country, rockabilly, jazz and even Latin music.
However one describes Petunia's music, he and the Vipers are certainly crowd pleasers. When they performed at Dexter Hall last July, there wasn't a still foot or stern face in the crowd.
