A new look is coming to committee meetings at North Battleford City Hall starting next week.
Council voted in favour of adopting the standing committee mandate for a new Planning Committee. Also, council passed amendments to the procedure bylaw in three readings at Monday's meeting to make way for the new committee structure.
The Planning Committee will combine the mandates of the former Municipal Services Committee, Finance Committee and part of the Parks, Recreation, Culture and Heritage Committee. As was the case with Municipal Services meetings, the mayor and all members of council will sit on the new committee.
The procedure bylaw changes took effect on passage, which means the Planning Committee can begin immediately. According to Mayor Ian Hamilton, the first meeting is next Monday.
"You'll get a taste of what the mandate will look like," Hamilton said. The mayor was also hopeful about the prospects for greater discussion there.
"This will offer us an opportunity to delve into issues in more depth, and I think it's going to be very valuable."
