Police deal with unco-operative assault victims

Battlefords RCMP responded to over 120 calls for service between 6 a.m. Thursday, April 16 and 6 a.m. Saturday, April 18.

Thursday

• A vehicle parked on the 200 block of 20th Street in Battleford reported to have been gone through sometime over the previous night.

• A vehicle parked in a parking lot off the 1700 block of 110th Street had a headlight broken out. Believed to have occurred some time between 9 a.m. and noon.

• 20-year-old man facing charges of impaired driving and driving while over .08 after an ATV was located in the Cochin district at approximately 5 p.m. driving erratically. The accused will make his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court May 4.

• A hit and run reported at 5:10 p.m. Alleged to have occurred at 11 a.m. in a parking lot on Railway Avenue East. Suspect vehicle was identified, driver denied striking complainant's vehicle before leaving scene. Remains under investigation.

Friday

• Vehicle parked on Panton Avenue gone through over the previous night.

• Report of three vehicles with damaged windows while parked on Kramer Place overnight.

• Report made shortly before 5 p.m. of a man suffering injuries from an apparent assault at a residence on the Mosquito First Nation. Man was located and transported to hospital suffering from head and facial injuries. The man was not co-operative with members during investigation. He has since been released from hospital and is expected to recover fully.

• Call made at 8 p.m. reporting an assault west of Battleford in late January. Suspect and victim are known to each other and investigation remains ongoing.

• Male suffering from stab wounds reported at 8:50 p.m. Man attended for treatment with non-serious stab wounds, but was not co-operative and would not provide police with any details on what happened or where incident occurred.

• Report of an attempted break and enter to a residence on the 1600 block of 107th Street at approximately 10:20 p.m. It was reported an unknown man opened a back door to a residence before fleeing the scene. May have been scared away by owner's dog.

Wednesday

• Traffic stop on Winder Crescent at 1:55 a.m. has resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old man for impaired driving. Man also provided a false name during initial stop and is currently facing charges of impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, driving while disqualified, obstruction, identity fraud and three counts of breach of probation.

Ten people were also arrested for alcohol related offences, police responded to five nuisance 911 calls, 15 disturbance complaints, 21 traffic investigations, four alarms, five bylaw complaints, two missing persons who were located, four collisions, two child welfare matters and five Mental Health Act investigations.
