Police Dog Unit aids in arrest

North Battleford RCMP responded to more than 40 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 21.


Among those calls were two false/nuisance 911 calls, one false alarm, one traffic complaint and one municipal bylaw complaint.


Tuesday


7:31 a.m. - Found bike discarded off 99th Street. Held at detachment pending identification of owner.


12:15 p.m. - Members called to a disturbance at a group home. A 15-year-old youth was arrested and charged with mischief, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation. A 14-year-old youth was also arrested and charged with mischief and failing to comply with probation. Both have since been released and are scheduled to make their first appearances in court on July 10.


12:20 p.m. - Vacant home on 106th Street entered sometime in last week, nothing taken but one door was damaged.


12:23 p.m. - Three youth, ages 14, 14 and 15, reported missing from a group home. All three returned after several hours.


2:40 p.m. - Report of mischief on 102nd Street, trees having been pulled out and thrown over complainant's fence.


7:25 p.m. - Report of a man causing a disturbance at a residence on 104th Street. A 22-year-old man was arrested on scene and is facing a new charge of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. Two other men, 28 and 15, were arrested for mischief. Both have since been released without charges.


8:29 p.m. - Theft of a licence plate on 16th Avenue sometime in last three weeks.


8:44 p.m. - Two youth reported running away from a youth group home. Both returned approximately six hours later.


9:04 p.m. - 17-year-old male arrested for public intoxication after report of man unconscious on 101th Street.


9:24 p.m. - Two men, ages 28 and 24, arrested and charged with two counts each of fraudulently obtaining food, after running up bills at two separate restaurants and refusing to pay. 


9:33 p.m. - 44-year-old man arrested and facing charges of possession of stolen property, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation after a shoplifting complaint from a business on Railway Avenue East.


9:36 p.m. - 53-year-old woman arrested for mischief, after report of intoxicated woman on 107th Street causing a disturbance.


9:50 p.m. - Complaint of intoxicated unwanted people at a residence on 104th Street. Two men, 28 and 21, arrested and held in custody until sober.


10:17 p.m. - Report of an assault on 107th Street. Suspect and complainant known to each other, suspect already gone from area. Investigation ongoing.


10:33 p.m. - 28-year-old man arrested on 107th Street on a Canada-wide warrant for parole violation. Also facing new charges of resist arrest, mischief, flight and driving while disqualified after attempting to members attempted to intercept a man wanted on a separate matter. Male suspect got into a vehicle and drove several blocks, ignoring police emergency lights before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. A foot pursue ensued and with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, the suspect was located and arrested without further incident.


Wednesday


12:29 a.m. - Police were called to 12th Avenue on a report of a possible gunshot. Several persons in the area were questioned and reported hearing a loud bang that was consistent with the sound of a firearm. No damage to property or any other evidence of a firearm being discharged found. A white SUV was witnessed leaving the area at the time of the incident. Investigation ongoing.


12:51 a.m. - 20-year-old woman arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving while impaired after vehicle stop on 110th Street. 


1:19 a.m. - Report of people fighting in the hallway of an apartment on St. Laurent Drive. A 21-year-old man was found to be very intoxicated, was identified as the main problem. Subject arrested and held in custody until sober.


2:53 a.m. - Report of a disturbance on 107th Street, intoxicated men fighting/arguing. An 18-year-old man was located on scene and arrested for causing a disturbance, held in custody until sober.
