Police put a stop to fireworks

Between 6 a.m. Thursday, July 2 and 6 a.m. Friday, July 3, North Battleford RCMP responded to approximately 36 calls for service, including:
Thursday

- Someone made a complaint that a side mirror on their vehicle was torn off overnight on the 1300 block of 108th Street.
- Officers were at a residence around 11:00 a.m. for an unrelated complaint, and found a 31- year-old woman intoxicated in the residence that was breaching conditions of an undertaking. She was arrested for breaching the no-alcohol condition and curfew condition on the undertaking and was held in custody for court the next day.
- A theft from a business in Battleford was reported at 1:22 p.m. The matter is still being investigated.
- There was a report near 5 p.m. that there was a man passed out near a business on 8th Avenue.  Officers arrested the 45-year-old man, who was intoxicated and had conditions not to be drinking alcohol. He was held until he was sober and was brought to court the following morning.
- A motor vehicle collision was reported around 6 p.m. in the provincial park near Cochin. Both vehicles involved had to be towed due to substantial damage; however, none of the occupants were injured.
- Someone reported that there was damage to their fence in Red Pheasant First Nation that had happened in the last few days.
- At 8:40 p.m. there was a complaint of a motorcycle that was excessively speeding. Officers located the vehicle and the driver was issued a ticket.
- A motorist called to say that he had hit a deer on Highway 16 east of North Battleford. Officers attended and the driver was not injured, though his vehicle was badly damaged.
- Officers located a man and woman together after 9 p.m. and were aware that the man had a probation order with conditions not to have contact with the woman. The 31-year-old man lied about his name to one officer and is being charged with obstruction, breach of probation order, and he also had outstanding warrants.  He was held in custody for court in the morning.
- A 36-year-old man came to the detachment and turned himself in on his warrants at 10:11 p.m. and he was held for court in the morning.
Friday
- There was a report at 12:18 a.m. of fireworks being set off on the 1900 block of St. Laurent Drive. The fireworks had stopped before officers arrived and the party was warned not to set them off anymore.
- Officers were dispatched to a fight in the back alley of the 1400 block of 101st Street at 2:39 a.m. The group that was fighting scattered when officers arrived and one male, who was intoxicated and yelling, was arrested and held in custody until he was sober.
- At 2:44 a.m. there was a group of four people located on the 1400 block of 102nd Street that were all arrested for public intoxication. Three of them were youth and one of them was an adult. They were held in custody and released to a parent or released when they were sober.
- There was a report of a fight in an apartment building on St. Laurent Drive at 4:19 a.m. and officers arrived and found that a window in one of the entrances had been smashed out. One male was arrested and held in custody until he was sober.
There were also three people arrested for alcohol related offences, five disturbances reported, two traffic complaints, one minor collision, one nuisance 911 call, and one false alarm.
