Police release new evidence in 1980 disappearance of P.A. man

Robert Wiggins went missing from Prince Albert on July 28, 1980, and his wallet was found near Radisson

PRINCE ALBERT – Robert (Bud) Wiggins was last seen 42 years ago today and police are appealing to the public for leads to his disappearance. Today, Wiggins would be 70 years old.

On July 28, 1980, close friends of Wiggins dropped him off at a home in the 500 block of 11 Street East in Prince Albert just before sunrise. 

“His disappearance has caused immense pain as his family and friends continue to cope with the stress of not knowing what happened to their loved one,” said  Charlene Tebbutt, public relations, and media coordinator for Prince Albert Police. “Police continue to investigate and are once again appealing to the public for information to help locate Robert Wiggins.”

Robert’s wallet was found along Highway 16 near Radisson in the summer or fall after his disappearance. The wallet still contained $300 in cash and a cheque made out to Robert Wiggins for $67.60. It was turned over to the Radisson RCMP. Police are releasing a photo of the wallet in the hopes that someone will remember locating it near Radisson in 1980, or have information on his whereabouts.

Prince Albert Police continue to actively investigate his disappearance and believe Wiggins was a victim of foul play.

At the time of his disappearance, Robert Wiggins was described as being 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. If you have information about the disappearance of Robert Wiggins, please contact police at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police say that Wiggins had connections to Edmonton at the time of his disappearance.
