Police seek break and enter suspect

The Wadena RCMP, Canora RCMP and the Yorkton Provincial General Investigation Section are seeking assistance from the public in locating a 23-year-old man wanted on several charges.


Joseph Wilfred Desjarlais from the Fishing Lake First Nation Reserve has been charged with break and enter in connection with inicidents at the Wandering Moose in Invermay, The Rama Co-op and Sheho General Store in Sheho. He is also charged three counts of wearing a disguise while committing an offence, one count of possessing a stolen vehicle and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle.


RCMP say Desjarlais has known associates in the Wadena area, Fishing Lake Reserve, Saskatoon and Calgary. Desjarlais is known to carry firearms and is considered armed and dangerous by police. Anyone encountering Desjarlais is located, is advised against approaching and should call 911.


RCMP advise Desjarlais was arrested Tuesday after a foot chase through Fishing Lake First Nation. He was taken into custody by Yorkton Provincial General Investigation Section without incident, aided by Swift Current Police Dog Section. Police say Desjarlais has been remanded into custody on all charges.
