Chaylene Bear had her scratch 'n' win lottery ticket for more than a week before discovering it was a $10,000 winner.

The North Battleford resident purchased a $3 Bingo Pot of Gold ticket from Foodland. She scratched the ticket the following day.

"I didn't realize the lucky symbols were free spaces," Bear recalled. "I had revealed one line, but thought I had won only $5."

She stored the ticket away in a piggy bank for over a week before deciding to cash it.

"I gave the ticket to the clerk and when I saw the prize amount on the screen, I couldn't believe what I saw," she said. "I was a bit scared and happy at the same time. I really didn't believe it was true.

Bear said she planned to use her winnings to take a shopping trip and then put the rest in the bank, for now.
