Residents living on three roads in North Battleford can now start drinking their water again without having to boil it.
Friday, the City of North Battleford lifted its precautionary drinking water advisory for homes on 101st Crescent, Borden Crescent, and Laurier Crescent. That advisory had taken effect Oct. 1 after crews had to shut down water while repairing two leaky water valves. While the precautionary drinking water advisory was in effect, residents on those streets were asked to bring their water to a boil for at least one minute and then let it cool before using for any activity where water might be ingested. This included: drinking; brushing teeth; washing fruits and vegetables; preparing food or drink which would not be subsequently heated; making ice; and soaking false teeth. Now that the precautionary drinking water advisory has been lifted, residents may use their water normally without having to boil it. Residents are, however, being advised to let the water in their homes run for 15 minutes, until the it becomes clear, to completely flush out their systems. They are also advised to remove and clear any dirt from the aerators.
