Every year, Humboldt residents have one clear way to say thanks to the emergency services that are always out answering distressed phone calls and saving lives. The 9th annual Emergency Services Charity Ball will be held once again on Feb. 7 next year and already tables are selling out.
“We always try putting on an excellent event to recognize our members,” said Darrell Wickenhauser, deputy fire chief for the Humboldt Fire Department. “This is just an evening of knowing our community is supporting us to keep the community and region safe.”
Up until Jan. 1, businesses are able to sponsor the event by purchasing tickets for a corporate table. After that, tickets will go on sale for the public.
The event will be held at the Jubilee Hall in the Humboldt Uniplex and will once again feature a silent auction, door prizes, live band music, a dance, and dinner. There will also be awards of recognition for outstanding emergency personnel for their service. Last year, they had over 300 people attend. This year, they’re hoping to once again sell out, especially since it’s their only major charity event.
The funds raised go towards various causes in the community such as the skate and spray park. Last year, some of it went towards the speed control signs and equipment for the fire department.
