Prisoner assaults other prisoner, officers

North Battleford RCMP responded to 19 calls for service between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Over that time period, RCMP made six arrests relating to alcohol offences.

North Battleford RCMP responded to 19 calls for service between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Over that time period, RCMP made six arrests relating to alcohol offences. Other calls included one alarm responded to, one child welfare investigation, one minor collision reported, one Mental Health Act investigation, one bylaw investigation and two reports of minor disturbances.

Tuesday

• A 27-year-old man is facing charges of assault, assaulting a police officer and mischief under $5,000 after a call of two intoxicated men causing problems at a home on the 1300 block of 109th Street at 7:26 p.m. The two men arrived at the residence and were reported to have chased one of the residents out of the home. One of the two men became violent once at cells, assaulting another prisoner and the members who intervened. The other prisoner was not injured during the assault. The accused will be appearing in North Battleford Provincial Court Wednesday. The second man arrested at the residence, also 27, is not facing any charges and is scheduled to be released when sober.

Wednesday

• A 28-year-old man is facing charges of care and control of a vehicle while impaired and refusing to provide a breath sample after a report shortly after midnight men  in a vehicle on Railway Avenue East drinking. Subjects located in a parking lot by responding members. The accused has since been released from custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Feb. 23.
