Promoting Saskatchewan musicians

Leipzig Music Festival
Leipzig Serenity Retreat

The fourth annual Leipzig Music Festival is coming up once again on the historic grounds of  Leipzig Serenity Retreat.

A new stage was erected last year, allowing more visibility for festival goers to enjoy the Saskatchewan talent.  The Leipzig Music Festival’s focus is on promoting a variety of established and emerging Saskatchewan musicians and artists. International stars such as Jay Semko of the Northern Pikes and Codie Prevost (WCMA Country Recording of the Year 2014) and Saskatchewan performers — Rosie and the Riveters, Bruin, Fremont St. Band, Solid Gold Express and local bands — will be making appearances.

The festival site will also include local vendors serving up delicious food throughout the day and an outdoor vendors’ market. Spa services will be provided on site by Sunrise Wellness Spa of Unity. Why not enjoy a relaxing massage while listening to music?

Children are sure to enjoy the bouncy castle and face painting. The Leipzig Music Festival is a family friendly, drug and alcohol free event, rain or shine. Children 12 and under enter free with a participating adult.

This West Central Saskatchewan event is a fundraiser dedicated to assisting those seeking sobriety and who are faced with financial obstacles. A former client, Jordan, had this to say about his chance to attend, “You gave me so much more than five weeks at Leipzig. You gave me back my life.” This is a festival with heart and a purpose. Festival goers get to support local music, artists and a great cause, too.

Diamond sponsors for the event are the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Sask Lotteries, Midcan Brokers Inc, along with platinum sponsors Biggar and District Credit Union and gold sponsors Unity Credit Union. Local businesses have donated generously as they recognize the need that exists in their communities.

Last year’s festival saw over 350 attendees from across Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The festival will take place on Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.

Leipzig Serenity Retreat, housed in the historic Notre Dame convent, is a five-week residential drug and alcohol treatment centre for those wishing to live a life of sobriety. The retreat is privately owned, non-government funded facility, with qualified counsellors helping others conquer their addictions.  For more information visit www.leipzigserenityretreat.com.
