CUMBERLAND HOUSE CREE NATION — Update: The incident in Cumberland House Cree Nation is concluded, says the RCMP, adding there is no further risk to the public.

As the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team is still on scene, RCMP are unable to provide further information at this time. An increased police presence will continue in the community. RCMP will release more details June 3.

Update: Firearms are being discharged from a residence at 133 Pemmican Portage Avenue in Cumberland House Cree Nation. Unknown individuals involved.

Original release: The Saskatchewan RCMP is issuing a public safety alert for a dangerous person with a firearm in Cumberland House Cree Nation. The suspect is a male, last seen on foot wearing a black ball cap and a black jacket in the area of Pemmican Portage Avenue. He is believed to be in possession of a long-barrel firearm.

To people in the area: Stay inside your homes and close and lock all windows and doors. Motorists driving in the area should be wary of someone asking for a ride and should not pick up hitchhikers. Report emergencies or tips by calling 911. Please do not disclose police locations.

There will be an increased police presence in the area.
