The Mervin 4-H Beef Club held thier speech night on Feb. 11 at the Turtleford school.
Jim and Nancy Range served as judges. Jayden Bannnerman was placed first in the juniors. Cordell Beynon placed first in intermediate and Sydney Lake placed first in the senior category.
All three moved one to district speaking at the Mervin Complex March 10. Everyone did well and Sydney placed second there.
March 4, the club toured the Turtleford vet clinic. The vet, Melissa, demonstrated ultrasound on one of my dad's heifers. We got to watch on the screen as she pointed out what we were seeing. We also discussed different reasons a cow may not be bred or abort her calf.
We then went back to the school for our meeting and pizza.
March 30, we will be having our annual strawberry tea and bake sale at the Mervin Complex from 2 to 4 p.m. Please stop in for some cake and baking if you are around.
