It took three attempts but the Humboldt Vintage Club finally got to host their vintage tractor and truck pull on Oct. 2.

The pull was originally scheduled to take place during the Sunday of Sizzler weekend but was postponed to the due to rain. The secondary date was subsequently rained out again due to more rain.

With the pulls postponed twice the number of entrants was down from the expected number. Twenty-five vintage tractors, who competed in nine different weight classes ranging from under 4,000 pounds to over 12,000, one modified tractor that competed in the modified division and two modified trucks, with one competing in the modified 4x4 division and the other competing in the modified two-wheel drive division.

With so many issues trying to get the pulls in Vintage Club Treasurer Craig Poncelet says it was a great relief to finally avoid the rain.

The pulls were a fundraiser for the Vintage Club who use the funds to keep the club going, says Poncelet.

“We’re a non-profit organization so it’s tough to organize funds and get funds to do this kind of job. This place takes time and effort and money to keep it running.”

Overall Poncelet was pleased with how the pulls went.

“We had lots of tractors show up and we had fun doing it. Our track held up really good, so we did a good job with that.”

Despite a chilly and foggy start to the day a large number of people showed up to enjoy the event, which was great to see says Poncelet.

“It’s just something that we can keep going every time. It works out good for us and if people are interested they just keep coming so it’s good it helps keep the club going.”

Poncelet would like to thank all of the people who did come out to watch the pulls, as well as to the sponsors.

“For helping us out it makes it a fun day.”
