The Western Yellowhead Air Management Zonehas announced real time air quality ratings are available to the public for free.

With the recent fires in Fort McMurray, and the federal government’s promises to reduce green house gas emissions, air quality has hit the radar for many people across Saskatchewan, according to a WYAMZ press release.

Whether they are planning a camping trip or wondering if their child can play outside due to the smoke, people in Saskatchewan need to know the impact air quality can have on their lives, and how to react, WYAMZ says.

WYAMZ has established six air pointers reporting live air quality for the area including Saskatoon, Lloydminster and North Battleford. Stations at Meadow Lake, Unity, Maidstone, Kindersley, Lloydminster West and Lloydminster East are now available to display live air quality readings at wyamz.ca.

“Like any environmental factor, air quality can impact our lives, our communities, and our businesses in Saskatchewan,” explains Terry Gibson, Executive director of WYAMZ.

“In the spirit of Clean Air Day on June 8, we are proud to offer the public free access to air quality ratings to better understand any potential air quality risks in their community so they can better live, work, and play in our province.”
