The human remains recovered from the bank of the North Saskatchewan River approximately 10 km north of the Paynton ferry crossing on Thursday, May 22, 2014 have been successfully removed and transported to Saskatoon. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 27. The RCMP initially received a private message on May 22 via its RCMP Saskatchewan Facebook account regarding the discovery of human remains by canoeists traveling in the area. The Divisional Operational Communication Centre made contact with both canoeists and dispatched Maidstone RCMP to the scene. RCMP take this opportunity to inform the public that the Saskatchewan RCMP social media accounts are not monitored 24/7. "We recognize that on rare occasions there may be extenuating circumstances that exist, but would like to stress that in emergency situations, the public should call 9-1-1, or, in non-emergencies, call 310-RCMP, or contact your local detachment/police service."
