A watched pot never boils, goes the old adage, but one left on the stove with no one home to watch it could result in a bad situation.

According to the fire department there was a pot left smouldering on the stove. Firefighters were able to gain access to the home through a window and disposed of the pot. They then ventilated the home.

One apparatus and three personnel were on scene for approximately 20 minutes. No damage was done and the fire officials say the homeowner was grateful for the quick response of the fire department to prevent the potential damage.
