HUDSON BAY — The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be making their way to Hudson Bay as the community plays host to a Saskatchewan Roughrider Block Party presented by Special Blend.

Tawnya Tremblay threw Hudson Bay’s name in the ring to win a party with the green and white, said Jeanine Holowatuik, the town’s community development director, with the party coming July 21.

Because Hudson Bay is around 400 kilometres from Regina and the Roughrider festivities, Tremblay saw an opportunity to bring the festivities to them, Holowatuik said.

Family fun is the name of the game, she said, with free activities across the community, as well as spending time with the Roughrider squad starting at 5 p.m. and a party going until midnight.

Money raised from the event will go towards the Hudson Bay Aquatic Centre.

Hudson Bay is not the only community hosting a special party with the Saskatchewan CFL football team. Six communities were chosen through a social media bracket to host a green and white party to raise money for local organizations and projects.

Along with fun and games for all ages, Roughrider Pep Band, Cheer Squad, Gainer the Gopher and a number of players will also be in attendance to have fun with the people in the host communities.
