Several students from the Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) chapter at John Paul II Collegiate were at North Battleford City Hall Wednesday.

They were there to promote the upcoming Impaired Driving Awareness Week, which raises awareness about the dangers of all impaired driving - whether it be alcohol, drugs or texting behind the wheel. A week of activities will take place at the high school from March 6 to 10, which include "white out" raising awareness of drinking and driving, as well as selling cupcakes and cotton candy as a fundraiser for their SADD chapter.

They are also going to hand out suckers as a reminder to "don't be a sucker, don't drink and drive," and plan to build a monument at the school where students can make a pledge not to drink and drive.

The students were greeted by North Battleford mayor Ian Hamilton in council chambers, who presented them with the signed proclamation for Impaired Driving Awareness Week that will be passed at city council.
