A Saskatoon man charged with possessing and distributing child pornography had another appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
John P. Malsi, 22, is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested Malsi in June after a three-month investigation. Members of the ICE unit executed a search warrant at his home in Saskatoon June 18. Police say they found child porn and seized two mobile phones for further forensic analysis. According to police, Malsi allegedly distributed child porn through a popular social media platform.
Malsi was released from custody with numerous conditions after appearing in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 18.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
On Sept. 21 Malsi was scheduled to elect how he wants to be tried. The matter was adjourned to Oct. 26.
