SaskTel adding 12 more rural towers

SaskTel announced plans this week to improve LTE cellular services in 12 additional communities throughout rural Saskatchewan by deploying a small cell site solution.

SaskTel announced plans this week to improve LTE cellular services in 12 additional communities throughout rural Saskatchewan by deploying a small cell site solution.

The majority of these towers (10) will be in-service by March 31, 2020 with the remaining two towers launching in June 2020.  This will bring the total number of small cell sites constructed under the Government of Saskatchewan’s Wireless Saskatchewan initiative to 103 in rural locations across the province.

The upgrades on the first 50 towers were completed by March 31, 2019 and SaskTel is now working on turning up the 41 towers (30 remaining) previously announced that will be in-service by March 31, 2020 and the 12 towers announced this week.

The 50 small cell sites in service as of March 31, 2019 were Abernethy, Glenavon, Lucky Lake, Morse, Simpson, Briercrest, Goodsoil, Macoun, Mortlach, Spalding, Brock, Govan, Manor, Muenster, Theodore, Carievale, Grayson, Marcelin, Odessa, Torquay, Conquest, Kennedy, Marengo, Paddockwood, Val Marie, Denzil, Kisbey, Marsden, Pennant, Waldeck, Drake, Laird, McTaggart, Prelate, Waseca, Earl Grey, Lake Lenore, Meota, Riverhurst, Weldon, Ebenezer, Lang, Mervin, Sedley, White Fox, Fillmore, Lintlaw, Midale, Semans and Zenon Park

The 41 small cell sites to be in service by March 31, 2020 are Borden, Halbrite, Minton, Sceptre, Wishart, Brabant Lake, Hazlet, Neuanlage, Sheho, Bulyea, Jansen, Neudorf, Sintaluta, Ceylon, Kuroki, Neville, St. Benedict, Creelman, Liberty, Otthon, St. Gregor, Dubuc, Loreburn, Pangman, Sylvania, Elfros, Love, Plenty, Tantallon, Fosston, Margo, Plunkett, Tuxford, Frobisher, Marquis, Prud’Homme, Veregin, Gladmar, Meacham, Rama and Weyakwin.

The 12 additional small cell sites to be in-service by March-June 2020 are Beechy, Clearwater, Macrorie, Stenen, Birsay, Cole Bay, Muskoday, Stewart Valley, Bradwell, Glen Ewen, Spruce Lake and Sucker River.
