Sept. 1 shooting case adjourned to October

Two suspects accused in the Sept. 1 shooting incident in North Battleford will see their matters return to provincial court in October. Justin Fineday returns to court Oct. 2 by video conference for a show cause hearing.

Two suspects accused in the Sept. 1 shooting incident in North Battleford will see their matters return to provincial court in October.

Justin Fineday returns to court Oct. 2 by video conference for a show cause hearing. As well, Valen Nicotine returns to court Oct. 16, also for show cause.

Their cases came up in provincial court Wednesday morning at which time the adjournments were granted. A third individual, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has also been charged.

The two face the charges of use of a firearm in the commission of an aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and committing and indictable offence with face disguised or masked.

The Sept. 1 incident, which took place in the vicinity of St. Laurent and Diefenbaker Drive in North Battleford, is one of two shootings in the city during September. RCMP are still investigating the other incident, which happened on St. Laurent Drive Sept. 16.
