Serious injuries prompt dangerous person alert, arrest made

UPDATE 2 - This afternoon at approximately 1:20 p.m., Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of a serious assault that occurred at a rural location in the RM of Meadow Lake.

UPDATE 2 - This afternoon at approximately 1:20 p.m., Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of a serious assault that occurred at a rural location in the RM of Meadow Lake.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and officers believed the suspect had an axe with him.  Officers from multiple detachments and units immediately flooded the area looking for the suspect.  Local EMS transported the victim to hospital with what are reported to be serious injuries.

At 1:51 p.m. the Meadow Lake RCMP issued a SaskAlert advising the public in the area to not approach the suspect or the suspect vehicle.  Investigators were working to obtain a photo to assist the public in the area with identifying the suspect.

The suspect was located and arrested without incident by Meadow Lake RCMP officers shortly before 2:50 p.m. and the SaskAlert was cancelled.

UPDATE 1

The dangerous person alert issued by Meadow Lake RCMP is cancelled. RCMP arrested one adult male. The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP will provide more information about this incident as soon as they are able.

Earlier story: A dangerous person alert has been issued by the Meadow Lake RCMP. A male suspect is identified as 28-year-old Jordan Nelson. He has brown hair and is 5’9”, last seen wearing blue jeans and a black hooded jacket with the word “Northern” printed on the front. Last known to be carrying a large axe or edged weapon. Suspect vehicle is a brown four door Ford Fusion with Sask. plate 887 IGF, last seen travelling  on grid roads north of Meadow Lake. RCMP say do not approach the suspect or suspect vehicle. Do not pick up hitch hikers. The situation is ongoing. Report emergencies or tips by calling 911.
