HUMBOLDT — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Humboldt by Environment Canada.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” said the weather service.
“Severe thunderstorms are possible across southern Saskatchewan late this afternoon and through the night as a low pressure system tracks into the region from Montana.”
As of 4:49 p.m., a storm is near Lestock in the RM of Kellross and heading northeast at 60 km/h. Golf ball sized hail was reported earlier in Southey. Another storm, heading in the same direction, is near Strasbourg.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
