Shoppers campaign benefits BTEC

The Shoppers Drug Mart 2012 Tree of Life fundraising campaign has harvested more than $4,374 for Battlefords Trade and Education Centre.

The Shoppers Drug Mart 2012 Tree of Life fundraising campaign has harvested more than $4,374 for Battlefords Trade and Education Centre.

The generosity of local Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees will benefit Battlefords Trade and Education Centre Women's Programming, according to a Shoppers Drug Mart press release.

BTEC is campaigning to raise $1.25 million to help build a new facility. BTEC has been the provider of activities and employment opportunities for the special needs adult population of the Battlefords area for over 44 years. The organization currently serves over 75 participants many of whom are women. BTEC's programming provides a place for participants to come, feel comfortable, cared for and do meaningful activity.

"The success of the 2012 Tree of Life campaign can be attributed to the support and commitment of our loyal customers and staff," said Rosemarie Priddle of Shoppers Drug Mart. "We are pleased to present this year's Tree of Life campaign proceeds to the Battlefords Trade and Education Centre Women's Programming.

The Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life campaign is a four-week program held across Canada each fall. In support of leading women's health organizations, customers, staff and associate-owners at more than 1,200 Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix locations raise funds through the purchase of the Tree of Life paper icons. Since 2002, the Tree of Life campaign has raised more than $17 million for Canadian health charities. In 2012, over 450 women's health charities across Canada will benefit from the campaign's proceeds with over 100 per cent of funds staying in the community where they are raised.
