Smoke but no fire

Once again, Fire Prevention Week produced its share of excitement.

Once again, Fire Prevention Week produced its share of excitement.

The good news is that while emergency crews were sent off into active duty again during the week where they promoted fire safety, on this instance there was no fire to report -- just smoke and fumes from work done in a building.

Fire crews responded to an alarm at 8:33pm on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 11403 Railway Avenue in North Battleford, where the fire alarms activated due to workmen in the building.

Fire department responded with one pumper and four firefighters, but while there was smoke, fumes and dust from the workmen, there was no fire. No damage or injuries were reported.
