Accompanying is a photo showing the screen frame and stage area at the Capitol Theatre in North Battleford, which is undergoing renovation and restoration. The screen has not yet been hung, and you can see the 10 huge speakers that will soon be hidden by the new screen. The new seats are in the foreground of the photo, covered by plastic. “The 10 speakers on the stage are joined by a dozen more on the side walls and in the back of the Capitol. The sound should be really, really good!” says Tom Hutchinson, president of Magic Lantern Theatres in Edmonton. Opening date is scheduled for early June. The company has said it will be the nicest theatre between Edmonton and Saskatoon. The renovation is part of the project to bring five movies screens to downtown North Battleford. The Capitol, which had been split into two screening areas in recent years, with little enthusiasm by the theatre-going public, is returning to a single screen entity.
