SPEERS — More than 700 people came to celebrate Speers’ 100th anniversary July 18.
Many came for the breakfast served by the committee at 8:30 a.m.
The parade was a sight to see with 50 entries of every kind winding down the streets at 11 a.m. The tractor pull was the big attraction of the afternoon with 20 tractors entered.
Going on at the same time were the ball games and the musical entertainment with many local entertainers.
The hall was a busy place with displays of present and past business, school and organizations set up. A silent auction and raffle were in place as well.
A catered supper was enjoyed as well as dancing in the evening. The children were well entertained all day with the bouncy castle, the balloon man, games and kids tractor pull.
One of the favourite visiting spots was the beer garden. Everyone raved about the fireworks at 10:30 p.m. They were "super duper," a great display with music.
Lunch and anniversary cake were served to end the perfect day.
