The Cottage Boutique Spring Fashion show brought 14 models and 132 of their new spring outfits to the runway on April 12.
The annual show once again raised money for the St. Mary’s Villa Foundation Comfort Care 2017 campaign with the fall fashion show raising money for the Humboldt and District Community Services.
Donna Muench with the Foundation says that the money with go to specific projects like ceiling track lifts, sit to stand lifts, and the redecorating of the Kelly Weber lounge and sun room.
“The two lounge areas that the residents use needs a facelift and extra storage for them,” says Muench.
Funding is being provided for the ceiling track lifts from both the Foundation and the Villa. There are seven left that the Foundation wants to fund so that will also be a focus of this year’s Comfort Care Campaign.
The needs themselves change with the type of residents that reside in the Villa, says Muench, and sit to stand lifts have been a new need that the Foundation wants to address.
Turn out was good for this go around, but attendance was higher at the fall show. But Muench says the night was still perfect for the amount of people they had.
Three volunteers from RBC Royal Bank Humboldt branch were out to lend a hand for their Day of Service grant program which provided another $1,000 to the fundraiser.
Cottage Boutique have been putting on their annual fashion show for at least the last 20 years, says Muench, with more shows happening in the last few years.
