The individual charged in connection to the deaths of three people in a Highway 16 accident near Lloydminster Sept. 22 will see his matters return to court Monday.

Brandon Stucka, 26, of Lloydminster, appeared by closed-circuit television in a brief appearance in North Battleford provincial court on Thursday. His matters have been adjourned to Monday morning at 11 am. Stucka, who currently is in custody, is due to appear again by CCTV.

Stucka faces multiple charges including criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, among several others.

His Thursday court date was his first appearance on the criminal negligence and dangerous operation charges; there had also been two prior North Battleford court dates during the week for Stucka on other charges, which include several breach of undertaking charges as well as possession of property obtained by crime.

Stucka is being represented by Hasaan Jomha, an Edmonton criminal lawyer. North Battleford lawyer Monte Migneault appeared as agent for Jomha in court and requested the adjournment to Monday. The Monday appearance is scheduled to be a show cause hearing.

Whether a show cause hearing will actually take place Monday remains to be seen. However, in court Thursday, Judge Lorna Dyck made known her displeasure at the number of adjournments already in the matter and made clear her desire for “something to happen” when Stucka appears again in court Monday by closed circuit TV.
