Students support The Lighthouse

North Battleford Comprehensive High School Me to We makes donation

The Lighthouse Serving the Battlefords sent a representative to North Battleford Comprehensive High School lrecently to receive $1,500 from the school's Me to We group.

Of that total $1,000 was a Telus grant made available after a Telus sponsored Free the Speaker presented a workshop at the high school last November. The other $500 was raised through a Crush for Your Crush fundraiser, selling Rafiki bracelets, the pie a teacher in the face campaign and selling chocolate.

These fundraising efforts also afforded NBCHS's Me to We group to complete the $10,000 Kenya school building goal started by students three years ago. The balance needed at the start of this school year was $1,600. Additionally, after chocolate sales are complete, it is the group's intention to donate $500 to the La Loche fund supporting families of victims.

The group plans to further support The Lighthouse shelter this year with additional events and campaigns.
