A seminar is coming to the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce on retail theft prevention.
The event is being held Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Balych Mural Meeting Room at the Chamber of Commerce building on the junction of Highways 16 and 40 in North Battleford.
There will be three representatives there to give presentations. Sgt. Chris Stephens of Battlefords RCMP will be there to provide the perspective of law enforcement on the issue. Lawyer Eldon Lindgren of the Matrix Law Group will be there to give the legal perspective, and Harris Sutherland of Gold Eagle Casino will be there to provide tips and tricks for how to deal with the issue.
The meeting is being organized by the chamber and by local businesses in response to concerns from a number of local merchants and store proprietors about the amount of shoplifting that goes on in the city.
The meeting is designed to be informational in nature and a chance for those attending to meet and network with other retailers to learn how to protect their businesses from thefts.
