Theft with bear mace sees RCMP seeking suspect

Between 6 a.m. Thursday, May 21 and 6 a.m. Sunday May 24, North Battleford RCMP responded to over 200 calls for service, including:
Thursday, May 21

- Several reports of vehicles gone through over night, most reporting change taken.  Area reported include vehicles on the 800 block of 107th, Cardinal Crescent, Meighen Crescent, Hamelin Street, Canary Street, Panton Avenue, Scott Drive and 110th Street.
- A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving, driving while over .08, and failing to comply with an undertaking X 2 after a vehicle stop in the Cochin district at 11 p.m.  Vehicle had previously been reported to have been driving erratically. Accused was remanded into custody and made his first appearance in provincial court in North Battleford May 22.  He remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear in court June 3.
- A 30-year-old man arrested and facing charges of impaired driving and driving while over .08 after a vehicle stop on Highway 4 south of Battleford at 11:48 p.m.
Friday, May 22

-13-year-old youth arrested at 12:30 a.m. in connection with an investigation into youth going into vehicles on the 1600 block of 104th Street. Two other suspects were identified over continuation of investigation and charges are currently pending against all three subjects.
- Report of a window at an apartment on the 1000 block of 104th Street broken out at 1:30 a.m. No suspects known.
- 911 call at 1:34 a.m. reporting a robbery on 110th Street. Two victims were approached by six suspects while walking and threatened with a can of bear mace. Suspects made off with some jewellery, a purse and a long board.  A 16-year-old suspect was located a short time later and arrested and is facing charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. This youth has already appeared in court and remains in custody. His next appearance is scheduled for June 8. A second 16-year-old suspect was arrested several days later and is facing the same four charges. He has also already appeared in court and is next scheduled to appear on June 11 and also remains in custody. A warrant for an 18-year-old male has been sought in connection with in matter as well. Gerald Keenatch, is wanted on charges of robbery, uttering threats, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The matter remains under investigation.
- Report of an assault at a residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation at 2 a.m. Both the alleged victim and suspect were gone from the location when police arrived, but the victim was later located at hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. A 43-year-old male has been identified as the suspect in this matter and charges are currently pending.  Investigation is ongoing.
- Report at 6 a.m. of two persons being transported to hospital suffering stab wounds after an altercation at a residence on the Moosomin First Nation. Both victims were treated and later released from hospital. A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of uttering threats. He made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Monday May 25. His next schedules appearance is June 18. All the subjects involved in this incident are known to each other and alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident as well.
- Vehicle parked on 12th Avenue reported to have been gone through overnight.
- Report at 9:45 a.m. of a vehicle damaged while parked at a residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation some time overnight.
- Report at 1 p.m. of a vehicle having been gone through some time over the previous five days while parked on Walker Drive.
-Call at 1 p.m. of some cash stolen from a person at a residence on the 1100 block of 107th Street.
Saturday, May 23

- Report of an assault at a residence on the 1400 block of 95th Street at 2:04 a.m. Suspect had fled the scene when police called and was not initially located. Victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Suspect was placed on warrant and was arrested on the 27th of May. The 33-year-old man is facing one count of assault causing bodily harm and was remanded into custody.  He appeared in court May 28 and remains in custody and is scheduled to appear again June 1.
- Call at 4 a.m. of a vehicle parked on the 1400 block of 108th Street gone through in last 30 minutes.
- 911 call made from a residence on Winder Crescent shortly after 6 a.m. reporting an assault. Woman was located with a bleeding nose reporting she'd been assaulted by several other women she stated she did not know.  Subject taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.  Matter remains under investigation.
- Call at 8 a.m. reporting a vehicle parked on the 700 block of 100th Street overnight had sustained a damaged tail light.
- Call of a vehicle parked on 110th Street gone through overnight.
- Report at 8:24 a.m. of a break and enter to a business on the 2000 block of 100th Street which occurred overnight. Suspect(s) made off which an undisclosed amount of cash. Matter remains under investigation.
- Vehicle parked on the 1500 block of 91st Street gone through some time over the previous night. Nothing appears to have been taken.
- 27-year-old man arrested and charged with impaired driving, driving while over .08 and driving without a licence after a vehicle check on Highway 4 near Cochin at approximately 5 p.m.  He has since been released from custody and will make his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court June 22.
- Police notified of a stolen vehicle south of Battleford at 8:40 p.m. Several suspects had attended a farm south of Battleford requesting some assistance with their vehicle. When the victim attended the roadside to assist them, the suspect took the victim's truck and fled the scene in both vehicles. A red Chrysler Neon was later recovered by members several miles away on a grid road. The truck, a grey 2000 Ford F150 Supercab with licence 743 BFZ, has not yet been located. Investigation is ongoing. Two suspects have since been identified and charges are pending.
Sunday, May 24

- Report of up to five youth who appear to be checking out vehicles on the 1600 block of 107th Street at 12:13 a.m. Not initially located. Three youths, 13, 12 and nine years of age, were located about a half hour later and arrested in the 19th Avenue area for similar offences. The 13 and 12 year old have been charged in connection with possession of stolen property in connection to several thefts from vehicles and investigation is ongoing.
- A 23-year-old man is facing a charge of obstruction after a vehicle check at 3:45 a.m. The man provided a false name during the vehicle stop. Subject was remanded into custody and made his first appearance in provincial court Monday, May 25.
During the time period, 21 persons were arrested for alcohol/drug related offences, police responded to 30 disturbance complaints, 10 child welfare matters, 32 traffic investigations, one animal complaint, four minor collisions, 11 alarms, six persons reported missing all of whom have been located, three false/frivolous 911 calls and four bylaw complaints.
