Thieves take advantage of vehicles left running

Between 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 reports/occurrences. Monday 6:01 a.m. - Report of young man looking into vehicles amd trying to get into vehicles on 107th Street. Patrols negative.

Between 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 reports/occurrences.

Monday

6:01 a.m. - Report of young man looking into vehicles amd trying to get into vehicles on 107th Street. Patrols negative.

7:00 a.m. - Pickup truck reported stolen from 1300 block of 108th Street. Located less then an hour later on the Moosomin First Nation on fire.

7:39 a.m. - Complaint of an assault alleged to have occurred the previous evening at a home on 102nd Street. All parties involved known to each other. When member attended to speak to complainant he refused to provide a statement.

12:00 p.m. - A Blue Ford Escape (885 IMF) reported stolen the evening of Jan. 5, recovered.

2:30 p.m. - Complaint of harassment. Still under investigation.

6:42 p.m. - Complaint of intoxicated person knocking on door to residence. Subjects had been drinking together all day and suspect asked to leave. Left briefly, then returned. While on phone with police he had once again left area.

7:37 p.m. - Complaint of two intoxicated males consuming alcohol in public on 101st Street. 30-year-old and 43-year-old men arrested and both charged under the Liquor Act. Shortly after 8 p.m., while in custody, the 30-year-old suspect then assaulted another prisoner in cells and is now facing a charge of assault and will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

9:40 p.m. - 16-year-old youth arrested on 108th Street and charged with two counts of failing to comply with probation, in violation of a curfew and residence clause. Held in custody to appear in provincial court Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. A second 16-year-old youth was also arrested on warrants out of Saskatoon and will also appear in court Tuesday morning.

9:52 p.m. - Report of theft of a cab fare. Suspect later located and arrested on other matters.

10:01 p.m. - A 14-year-old man is facing charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and several Traffic Safety Act charges after a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1400 block of 106th Street. The vehicle had been left running in front of a residence when it was stolen. Police located the vehicle a short time later on Territorial Drive. The suspect did not initially stop when the police vehicle's emergency equipment was activated and ran a stop sign and a red light and the pursuit was deactivated. The suspect continued west bound on Territorial Drive and lost control of the vehicle and hit the ditch. Members located the vehicle and suspect a short time later and the youth was arrested without further incident. During the search of the youth, other property believed to be linked to other thefts was located. The suspect remains in custody and will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

10:46 p.m. - 20-year-old man arrested and charged with mischief following a report of intoxicated man on Laurier Crescent damaging a door to a residence.

11:08 p.m. - Report of two suspicious males on 112th Street, possibly trying to get into a home. Two males matching description later located. One found to have warrants for his arrest from Saskatoon. No damage or signs of forced entry discovered.

11:14 p.m. - 911 call to a residence on 101st Street of a fight/disturbance. Members attended and all was now calm.

11:18 p.m. - 36-year-old man arrested and charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and two counts of failing to comply with and undertaking, after the man was spotted by an off duty member to be intoxicated and attempting to get into a vehicle on Railway Avenue East. Suspect to appear in court Tuesday at 9:30 a.m..

11:49 p.m. - 911 call to a residence on 99th Street of a fight/disturbance. Two persons at location were intoxicated and arguing. Both left without further issue.
