This lot has been empty for far too long

The goal of the Battlefords Habitat for Humanity board is to see a duplex built on this property in the coming year. Maybe you could be one of the homeowners. The board is holding an Information meeting Jan. 20, 7 p.m.

The goal of the Battlefords Habitat for Humanity board is to see a duplex built on this property in the coming year. Maybe you could be one of the homeowners.

The board is holding an Information meeting Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at the McKitrick School gymnasium.

If you are a working family with a combined income of $52,000 or less you may qualify. It is required that you have lived in Canada a minimum of two years and in this community (or within 20 kilometres) for one year. You must have had steady, stable employment income for a minimum of two years in Canada. Families with younger children will take priority.

The families chosen for these homes will be required to work 500 hours on their homes. This “sweat equity” is like a down payment. Much of the cost of the home is donated through materials and labour. The family will then take on an interest free mortgage. The payments will be no more than 25 per cent of family income.

If this sounds like a dream come true for you, the board invites you will attend this meeting. This will be the only time applications will be available.
