A threat made on social media against the Hudson Bay Community School by a student caused the school to take a hold and secure stance.
The Hudson Bay RCMP were alerted to the threat Oct. 6 by the school. It was made by a student who had been sent home.
Hold and secure means the exterior school doors are locked. No persons are allowed to enter or exit without escort. It is business as usual within the school and students are often unaware that it’s happening.
On-duty members were able to locate the suspect within approximately 30 minutes of receiving the report. The student was taken into custody and a charge was laid. Hudson Bay RCMP found no further danger to the school and the hold and secure was lifted after approximately one hour.
Due to being under 18, the name of the student will not be publicly released.
