There are three new administrators coming to the Light of Christ Catholic School Division, including two vice-principals and one new principal, at Holy Family and John Paul II Collegiate schools.
New to John Paul II in the position of vice-principal is Shaun Loeppky. Loeppky was born in Calgary and attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he obtained a bachelor and masters of education degrees. Out of his 22 years of teaching experience, he has spent half of them with the Light of Christ School Division. With JP II, he has been instrumental in the creation of the football program, working as a coach and general manager. He also coaches junior basketball. His interests include reading, travelling and motorcycling. He presently attends Notre Dame Parish.
At JP II, Loeppky's main roles will include Division II and the new Response to Intervention program. He will be teamed with vice-principal Marie Graw and principal Carlo Hansen.
Holy Family's new vice-principal is Emilie Wolfe, from Lindsay, Ont. After growing up in eastern Canada, Wolfe moved to Warman when she was in Grade 12. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2002. After graduating, Wolfe married and she and her husband moved to Canmore, Alta. where she taught for six years.
In 2008, Wolfe moved to North Battleford, where she taught at St. Mary Community School.
Wolfe attends St. Joseph's Parish and enjoys the outdoors, reading and "the beautiful area" she and her family have made their home.
Joining Wolfe at Holy Family as the new principal is Val Yockey. For the last five years, Yockey has been the vice-principal at Holy Family, where she also taught kindergarten to Grade 7 physical education and Grade 6 math. Prior to being an administrator, she taught at Holy Family for 10 years.
Yokey is originally from Alberta, but moved to Prince Albert when she was in Grade 10. She attended the University of Saskatchewan, where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree, and received a certificate in Catholic School Administration from Newman Theological College. She began her teaching career in 1994 at Battleford Junior High.
Yockey is active in the community, organizing the city basketball league, and with St. Joseph's Calasanctius Parish where she is a lector, commentator and assists with various family events.
Yockey says she plans to lead Holy Family School in a positive direction for the future. She wants parents to continue to feel welcome at the school and to feel their children are receiving a quality education enriched with strong Catholic values. Yockey says she strives to instil in all staff and students the desire to always move forward, accepting the new world of constant change, to always do their best, and to treat each other with a Christian attitude. With all of the changes in the field of education, Yockey acknowledges the new position will be challenging but she is excited to begin her role as Principal of Holy Family School.
